Many thanks to the gentle and tenacious Elaine Walters, who along with a fantastic team of practitioners and healers, offered the second annual Trauma Informed Healing Centered Practice Cohort from October 9th to December 18th, 2025 at The Trauma Healing Project. Laurel Lisovskis, WVCC Clinical Director, says: "I was so lucky to get to participate in this dynamic and powerful group, meeting over the fall season to delve into the different layers of trauma, to understand the foundational concepts of Trauma Informed Care, to reflect on the ways we can think about reducing suffering and cultivate healing for individuals and groups, to deepen our listening practices and expand our somatic practices, to be in community with with each other in these destabilizing times, and to imagine a future less impacted by trauma. This time and the people who showed up felt precious to my own growth and development, and I feel inspired to continue to nurture my own competencies, centering humility to be open to so many amazing ideas, perspectives and values that people carry in their lives to honor community healing. My biggest take away was a reminder that I have always carried with me from years of doing crisis response in the community. People are carrying so much that we do not see unless we stop to listen, to feel, to acknowledge, to witness, and when we do take that pause to connect, the load is lightened for everyone and the path widens to make room for us to be on this journey together."
